[X] Howie - Session#1 Transcript

Dr. Fletcher

(writing notes) Howie was referred to me. I met him for the first time today.

Howie

I have a story. It's pretty weird. I think it's psychiatric and not neurological. I don't know. My phone is ringing - I'm going to have to tell it to stop.

I'm a political consultant and I help Republicans get elected. I work all over the country. State, local, once in a while national elections. And I've been very successful. I've been at this for a good twenty years. I have a major track record. I feel good about my work.

However, I've been having what I would call blackouts lately. This has been going on for a couple months.

Dr. Fletcher

You mean you've been passing out?

Howie

No, I don't actually pass out. I just suddenly wake up, as it were, in a place that - I have no idea how I got there. It happens a lot in the library. Suddenly I'm in the library. I don't know why I'm in the library. I'm in a social situation and suddenly - I don't know how much time passes - I get lost.

Dr. Fletcher

You lose time?

Howie

I lose time. But I lose memory. This is what it feels like. Then where do I go?

Dr. Fletcher

(writing notes) After just a few minutes with him, it seems that Howie's clinical picture is pretty clear. He seems to be suffering from a recent onset of Multiple Personality Disorder.

Howie

Here's what I need you to know. You ready? Yesterday something really freaky occurs. Again I'm in the library. Again I have trouble finding my keys. I get home. I live on the Upper West Side. I come home, going into the house, take of my jacket. And I go to my desk to check my email.

I get to my desk and there is a note on my desk, Doctor. It looks like it's my handwriting. I thought it was something I wrote - but I have no memory of writing this. It says: 'Howie, your politics are atrocious. And this forgetting keys is but the opening salvo. Best, Nathan.'

This Nathan is out to get me.
